Ah, young love—or, in Dougie’s case, young heartbreak. Over at the Horton House, Holly dropped by to gently (read: bluntly) remind Dougie that she does not reciprocate his feelings. Bless his heart, Dougie took it like a champ, apologizing for the awkwardness and accepting the dreaded “just friends” sentence. He even acted like he was totally fine with it. Cute.
But wait—there’s more! Because this is Days, no conversation can simply end on a normal note. Dougie casually dropped that Julie might go to the police about the cursed necklace (seriously, why is this thing still causing problems?). Holly, never one to let a storyline fade without squeezing every last drop out of it, insisted on joining him to get an update from Leo, who is apparently on the case. We’ll see how that goes… because Leo + responsibility? Questionable.
Adoption Lies and Awkward Vibes: A Classic Days Dilemma
Over in Horton Square, Johnny, Chanel, Sophia, and Tate discussed the tiny issue of their adoption deception. Johnny, being Johnny, was having a bit of a moral crisis over it. Chanel, on the other hand, found it hilarious that Sophia had told Mama Choi she used to lead a Sunday School class. (Ma’am, please.)
Tate, the voice of reason (for once), told them it was okay if they wanted to back out. But let’s be real—this is Days of Our Lives. Nobody backs out of a terrible plan when they absolutely should. With some hesitation, Johnny and Chanel agreed to keep up the charade. Because what’s a good adoption meeting without a sprinkle of dishonesty, right?
DNA Drama: Who Even Is Rafe?
Meanwhile, at University Hospital, Gabi got her hands on the DNA results, and surprise, surprise—the man in her house wasn’t Rafe. Cue gasps. Cue dramatic music. Cue Jada’s realization that she was this close to marrying a complete imposter.
The duo did some quick detective work (as one does in Salem) and came to the conclusion that the switcheroo must have happened when EJ hired Rafe. Because of course EJ is tangled up in this mess. Jada wasn’t convinced they had enough proof that the imposter was Arnold (please, for the love of Salem, let’s not introduce another doppelgänger), but Gabi had another plan: drag EJ into the chaos.
That’s when Jada had an aha! moment—she remembered searching for EJ in the tunnels (because every villain worth his salt has tunnels) and hearing noises from one of the rooms. Salem detectives, assemble!
EJ DiMera: The King of Pettiness
Speaking of EJ, he was busy being his usual delightfully insufferable self. While preparing to host Sophia and Mama Choi, he made sure to mention (with dramatic flair, no doubt) that Nicole was thriving in Paris—without him. Paulina, never one to let a golden moment slip away, took the opportunity to rub it in, which we love to see.
EJ, being EJ, couldn’t resist taking a jab in return, pointing out that Nicole left him for a defrocked priest (still one of the wildest plot twists, by the way). Just when it seemed like the petty meter couldn’t go any higher, Johnny strolled in, probably wondering why his father is like this.
Final Thoughts: Just Another Day in Salem
This episode of Days of Our Lives was a masterclass in deception, emotional whiplash, and EJ DiMera doing the absolute most. Holly continued to manage Dougie’s feelings like a full-time job, Johnny and Chanel waded deeper into their web of lies, and Jada was forced to face the horrifying truth that her almost-husband wasn’t even real. And, of course, EJ stayed on brand, proving once again that he lives for the drama.
