B&B Recap | Liam’s Meltdown, Hope’s Messy Love Life & Deacon’s Drama - Wednesday, April 23, 2025 [SPOILERS]

On The Bold and the Beautiful, denial runs deep, love triangles tangle tighter, and everyone’s got an opinion on who Hope should be with. Wednesday's full episode recap includes Liam swearing he’s not dying, Carter begging for a second chance, and Deacon playing daddy-cupid while Sheila side-eyes it all.

Liam | B&B, CBS

Liam’s Death? Not in His Narrative

Let’s talk about Liam, shall we? Poor guy just found out he’s supposedly got a death sentence hanging over his handsome little head, and he’s not having it. Like, at all. At the cliff house, Liam’s standing there in stunned disbelief as Steffy drops the bomb that he’s got an inoperable mass in his brain. And instead of falling into a puddle of existential dread, he takes the route of full-blown denial. Because obviously, the power of green smoothies and Pilates should make him immortal, right?

He’s got daughters to raise, memories to make, and a whole lot of “I’m too young for this” energy. He practically accuses Steffy of gaslighting him into the grave. The man refuses to go down without a fight—or at least a second opinion, ten Google searches, and maybe a miracle thrown in for flair. Finn walks in like the bringer of doom, and even though he tries to soften the blow, Liam isn’t buying it. He’s got hope, faith, and sheer stubbornness working overtime.

Let’s be real: Liam has no plans to sit his girls down and say, “Daddy’s punching out early.” Nope. He’s declaring war on fate itself. Is it medically sound? Not at all. Is it peak Liam energy? Absolutely.

Hope’s Romantic Rollercoaster

Meanwhile, over in the land of questionable relationship decisions, Hope is getting surprise house calls from Carter, who apparently forgot how doors work. The man just strolls into Brooke’s place like he still lives there—because who needs boundaries when your heart is on the line?

Hope gets a visit from Carter | B&B

Carter’s throwing down the desperate ex routine with a side of “I miss you” and “Remember the fashion show?” like that’s going to erase the betrayal. Hope, still raw from their crash-and-burn romance, isn’t exactly handing out forgiveness. She points out (rightfully) that when things got tough, Carter folded like a cheap suit. And worst of all? He made life-altering decisions behind her back. Huge red flag. Like, “alert the lifeguards” huge.

And yet… there’s Liam. Always Liam. Carter clocks that little sparkle in her eye when his name gets mentioned. Turns out, Hope has been doing some soul-searching (translation: she’s confused and emotional), and memories of Liam keep floating back in. Is it nostalgia? Is it unfinished business? Or is it that Carter made Liam look like a knight in shining armor by comparison?

Carter pleads his case like a man with nothing left to lose. Because let’s be honest—he doesn’t. But will Hope let him back in? Or will she reroute her messy heart back to Liam?

Deacon Plays Cupid, Sheila Plays Judge

Now, over at Il Giardino, Deacon is brooding in the back like he’s auditioning for a noir drama. Cue Sheila, slinking in with her radar tuned to “my man’s got something on his mind.” And she’s not wrong—Deacon’s stewing over Hope’s romantic disaster of a love life. The man is ready to throw hands with Carter (and apparently already has). Because if there’s one thing Deacon doesn’t tolerate, it’s someone breaking his baby girl’s heart.

Deacon & Sheila discuss Hope's love life | B&B

Sheila, ever the chaos connoisseur, is amused but also skeptical. She pokes the bear a bit, asking if Deacon’s playing matchmaker for Hope and Liam. And while Deacon swears he’s not, it’s giving very much yes, you are. He thinks Liam might actually be the grown-up version Hope’s been waiting for—because nothing says “growth” like being potentially terminally ill and emotionally devastated!

Sheila’s not sold. She reminds Deacon that Hope and Carter literally just imploded, and maybe, just maybe, she doesn’t need a rebound in the shape of her ex-husband. But Deacon’s not letting go of the Liam possibility. He’s holding on to this idea like it’s a winning lottery ticket, even if the numbers don’t quite add up.

Daughters, Denial & Destiny – Liam’s Not Going Quietly

Back at the cliff house, the emotional storm continues. Liam’s doing everything short of writing a Hallmark movie to convince Finn and Steffy that he’s going to beat this thing—science be damned. He talks about his daughters like they’re his lifeline, his purpose, his reason for flipping the bird to death itself. It’s melodramatic, it’s passionate, and honestly? It’s very on-brand.

Steffy, bless her surprisingly patient heart, is trying to be supportive without crushing his very fragile hope. Finn, caught between medical realism and emotional support, is less comforting. He’s got no miracle cure in his pocket, and Liam’s not here for that kind of honesty.

But Liam? He’s doubling down. He makes them promise not to tell anyone because denial thrives in secrecy, apparently. He talks about faith, fate, and every cliché in the inspirational quote book. And while none of it changes the medical facts, it does shift the emotional stakes. Liam refuses to die. And in true B&B fashion, that might be enough to keep him kicking—for now.
