Doug Learns the Hard Way: Joey’s Not His Buddy
If Doug thought Joey was his pal, someone should have shaken him awake weeks ago. While Vanessa’s out here whispering to Nicole about her “Doug concerns,” Joey’s busy cornering the poor man like a loan shark in a Scorsese flick. Injured hand? Joey doesn’t care. Sad little wallet? Joey really doesn’t care. He’s here for his cash, and he’s not above tacking on an “ass tax” for Doug’s backtalk.
Of course, Joey’s grand plan works like a charm. Doug, battered ego and all, caves and agrees to hit up Vanessa for the money. Perfect timing too, because in walks Vanessa looking like she’s about to catch a man cheating — emotionally or financially. Doug, scrambling harder than an egg on a hot pan, tries to explain his busted hand and swears everything's fine with their open marriage. Spoiler alert: she’s not buying it, and neither are we.
Meanwhile, Joey is off gloating to Randy, all but twirling his mustache like a cartoon villain. According to him, Doug is exactly where he wants him — and judging by Doug’s sad puppy eyes, he’s not wrong.
Hot Takes, Cool Karaoke: Uptown Is Shaking
Over at Uptown, it’s karaoke night and guess who’s in the building? None other than Anita herself, claiming she’s definitely not here to perform. Please. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s pulling double duty: trying to figure out if her mom Dani is planning to stick around like an uninvited houseguest and giving Martin/Smitty some brutal, necessary Insta advice to deal with Tyrell’s nonsense. Her tip? Flood the 'Gram with thirst traps and pretend you’re living your best life. Honestly, solid advice.
As the karaoke mic starts heating up, Dani and Naomi peer pressure Anita into singing — despite her mini-meltdown about going viral for the wrong reasons. But let’s be real: once Anita steps onto the stage, it’s like the universe shifts. That woman didn’t just “still have it” — she invented it. The crowd ate it up, and honestly? So did we.
Eva, Tomas & Secrets at the DMV
Elsewhere at the DMV, Eva’s busy putting in work — and no, not the kind Doug’s struggling with. She meets with party planners Julia and Jonathan to pull off a soirĂ©e for Ted and Nicole, and even though she’s more comfortable with a BeyoncĂ© lyric than a Beluga caviar menu, she absolutely charms the pants off them.
Fresh from her party-planning triumph, Eva hits the bar with Tomas for some light gossip and emotional oversharing. She lets slip that her relationship with her stepfather Ted has been colder than a DMV office in December. Tomas, being the charmer he is, tells her it’s Ted’s loss — but Eva’s not so sure. Watching Kat and Ted bond makes her feel like the kid still waiting to be picked for dodgeball. Sad, but relatable.
Meanwhile, in a totally unrelated but absolutely juicy side plot, Leslie’s running around telling Mona and Jan she’s been winning jackpots at Lakewood’s backroom slots. She also hints that her mysterious ex is back in her life. Spoiler: Leslie’s deep in her delulu era, and we cannot wait to see where this hot mess express is headed.
