Doug’s Dirty Laundry Hits the Fan
Doug, bless his disaster of a soul, finally admits to his gambling addiction. Turns out, the dude isn’t just hooked on scalpels and applause in the OR; he’s been chasing that sweet adrenaline high at the blackjack tables, too. And spoiler: he’s lost more than just his dignity. The poor guy breaks down sobbing about the wreckage his addiction has caused — most notably his marriage to Vanessa, which is already hanging on by a single unraveling thread.
Nicole, trying to be the voice of reason (which, let’s be honest, no one asked for), suggests Doug join a support group. Cute idea, but Doug immediately short-circuits at the thought of someone — gasp — recognizing him. Apparently, being known as the sad gambling surgeon isn’t a vibe he’s ready to rock.

Doug's ‘Confession’... Kinda?
Later, at the country club, Doug finds Vanessa, who is busy getting stonewalled by Diego. Poor Vanessa can’t even get a good passive-aggressive dig in without Diego serving it right back. Cue Doug slinking over with a classic “I have a confession to make” opener. You’re thinking this is finally it, right? Doug's big truth bomb?
Ha. Cute. Instead of owning up to his gambling mess, Doug gets all misty-eyed about their hotel hookup and waxes poetic about how it reminded him of their “better days.” Sir, read the room. You are floundering.
Tyrell & Jessica Bring the Heat
Meanwhile, at Orphey Gene’s, Tyrell and Jessica are basically writing their own rom-com. Jessica’s throwing compliments like confetti, calling Tyrell “real” and hyping him for handling his scandal like an absolute champ. Samantha clocks the situation and immediately starts mentally planning the wedding, even though Tyrell plays it cool and claims Jessica isn’t “girlfriend material”...yet. Give it a minute, Tyrell. You’re practically doodling her name in your notebook already.

Bill's Big, Shaky Lie
Over at the country club, Bill is stirring up his own brand of trouble. He interrupts Naomi and Martin’s tense little convo just long enough for Martin to tell him — to his face — that the family ties are officially cut. But Bill, being Bill, knows how to dangle a carrot. If Martin wants to make it big politically, he better not burn every bridge just yet.

While Bill is flexing his manipulative muscles, though, his actual muscles are betraying him. His hand is shaking like he’s trying to start an invisible car. Tomás, who’s apparently the only one paying attention, gently suggests maybe, just maybe, he should see a doctor. Bill, naturally, brushes it off like it’s just dehydration. Sure, Bill. And I’m the Queen of England.

Ashley & Derek Play House
Across town, Ashley and Derek are busy making bad decisions with suspicious levels of optimism. Derek floats the idea that it’s time to shack up together, and Ashley, after a moment of panic, agrees. It’s all hearts and rainbows until Derek tempts fate by uttering the cursed words, “What could possibly go wrong?”
Really, Derek? Have you met this show? Literally everything could go wrong, and it’s probably already starting.
Naomi the Hero We Deserve
Back at the precinct, Naomi gets pulled into a hot mess courtesy of June, a homeless woman facing assault charges after coming at a social worker who tried to toss her stuff. June’s trust levels are lower than Doug’s credit score, and she doesn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat for Naomi. “I sure as hell don’t trust your kind,” she snaps.

Does Naomi back down? Not a chance. With Jacob nudging her along, Naomi gears up to take June’s case, because somebody around here needs to be doing something worthwhile. Thank you for your service, Naomi.
