BTG Full Episode Recap | Martin’s Meltdown, Eva’s Close Call & Leslie’s Wig-Fueled Schemes - Monday, April 7, 2025 [SPOILERS]

Monday's Beyond the Gates full episode recap is serving scandal, secrets, and side-eyes. Martin’s ready to blow his own cover, Eva’s playing dodge-the-husband, and Leslie is out here wildin’ with wigs and IV sabotage. If you thought BTG was slowing down, honey, think again. Monday’s episode was nothing short of explosive, with Martin imploding, Eva scrambling, and Leslie pulling off hospital heists like she’s auditioning for General Hospital: Villain Edition

Leslie | BTG, CBS

Martin Is Haunted, Haggard & Holding On By a Thread

The episode kicks off in the sunny, picture-perfect illusion that is the Richardsons’ townhouse. Ah, the perfect backdrop for a mental breakdown, don’t you think? Martin, who is basically the human embodiment of "I haven’t slept since 2019," is knee-deep in another daytime panic attack. This one’s a full sensory experience: we’ve got cars, crowbars, and just enough PTSD to keep everyone uncomfortable.

What is Martin's secret | BTG

And before you ask — yes, we still don’t know what happened. But we now have a crowbar in the mix, which screams “murder weapon” or at least “heavily suppressed trauma.” Either way, Martin’s not talking. Smitty, ever the emotionally intelligent partner (read: nosy), thinks Martin’s silence is poisoning their kids, and honestly? She’s not wrong.

Martin’s so wound up, he ends up confiding in Vernon and Anita, giving us our weekly dose of cryptic dread. He’s ready to come clean about something — which we know is bad, because even the perpetually composed Anita is like, “Oh hell no, you better lock that vault and throw away the key.” Whatever Martin did was “terrible,” but according to Anita, having it exposed would be worse. Worse than what, Anita? Global collapse? A third assistant for Nicole? Elaborate!

Tyrell’s Eye & Viral Fame — Not the Good Kind

Meanwhile, in the subplot that’s screaming for a school counselor and a privacy policy, Smitty is basically playing Sherlock Holmes Jr. with Tyrell’s social life. She’s stalking the halls (or more accurately, stalking her kids' social media via teenage spies) trying to get to the bottom of Tyrell’s suspicious black eye. What she doesn’t know is that her daughter Samantha has all the intel — and she’s dishing it via text.

Apparently, a photo of Tyrell’s injury is making the rounds at school like wildfire. And Samantha’s friend confirms the worst: “everyone” has seen it. So if Tyrell was hoping for low-key bullying, that ship has sailed, crashed, and burned on TikTok. Things are not looking great for the Richardson kids, and their parents’ mess is clearly leaking all over their lives.

Ted & Leslie: Where Blackmail Meets Bank Transfer

Elsewhere, in a scene that could only be described as “emotionally bankrupt with a hint of cashmere menace,” Ted shows up at Leslie’s place like a man on a mission. He’s got $50K in cold, hard hush money and zero patience for drama — ironic, considering he’s starring in a soap opera. Leslie, ever the queen of pettiness and petty wigs, threatens to scream for help, claiming she’ll give a “Viola Davis–worthy performance.”

Ted | BTG

Leslie | BTG

Ted? Unfazed. He tosses the money on the table like it’s pocket change and tells her to vanish from his life. Forever. Because, you know, what’s a little abortion trauma and blackmail between ex-lovers? Ted even throws in a classy jab about her not having any kids — a reminder that his moral compass is spinning wildly with no true north in sight.

But Leslie’s not about to let him walk out unscathed. She hits back with a threat to tell Nicole everything. Oh yes, the anniversary party from hell is shaping up nicely.

Eva, the Almost-Caught Assistant, Lives to Scheme Another Day

Speaking of secrets and slippery escapes, Eva is doing her best impersonation of a stealth ninja this week. She swings by Garland Memorial to check in on Laura — aka the unfortunate soul Leslie mowed down in a hit-and-run. Laura’s recovering suspiciously well, which puts a clock on Eva’s double-agent stint as Nicole’s assistant.

But fate, and poor timing, almost out her.

When Eva returns home, she just narrowly avoids running into Ted, who’s storming out of Leslie’s place like a man who’s just lost $50K and his last shred of dignity. It’s a close call — the kind that sends your heart into your throat and your storyline straight into chaos — but she makes it out unscathed.

And Leslie? She’s brushing it off like it’s just another Tuesday. According to her, Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party is the big reveal moment anyway, so why worry now?

Oh, and plot twist: Nicole is toying with the idea of hiring two personal assistants going forward. So Eva’s not necessarily out of a job… or out of danger. And if you thought Leslie was finished stirring chaos, you clearly underestimated her. She later slips into Laura’s hospital room like a Bond villain, and messes with her IV. Ma’am. That’s not even passive-aggressive — that’s felonious.

Leslie tampers with Laura's IV | BTG

Also, sidebar: how many wigs does Leslie own? Is there a hidden walk-in closet somewhere? A wig annex? A storage unit? Just a wall of them like Moira Rose's on Schitt's Creek? The BTG writers are giving us hair mystery on top of murder mystery. Keep up the good work! I'm here for it.

Secrets, Blackmail & A Neverending Wig Collection

Let’s recap the recap, because this BTG episode was a whole buffet of disaster:

Martin is mentally unraveling and dangerously close to detonating his own secrets. Everyone around him is like “Please don’t,” and we still don’t have the full story — just trauma flashbacks and vaguely ominous conversations.

Tyrell is getting bullied, and his entire school has a front-row seat to his misery. Samantha knows all but won’t share, because being a teenager is a full-time job.

Ted tried to buy Leslie’s silence with $50K and got hit with a threat in return. Classic BTG power struggle. Meanwhile, Eva narrowly avoided catastrophe, but with Laura’s health in Leslie’s hands (or at least in reach of her IV sabotage), things are about to get extra dicey.
