Days of Our Lives Recap | Wake Up, EJ! - Tuesday, April 22, 2025 [SPOILERS]

On Tuesday's "Days of Our Lives," EJ finally wakes up, but don't expect him to hand out hugs and thank-you notes just yet. Between shady flashbacks, Gabi’s guilty conscience, and Chanel sealing the deal on adoption, DOOL served up a pretty good Tuesday.

Susan & EJ | DOOL, Peacock

EJ's Big Wake-Up Call

So, EJ DiMera decided to rejoin the land of the conscious on today's Days of Our Lives — and let me tell you, it was a hot mess express from the jump. Susan was practically vibrating with excitement as Belle hovered nearby, torn between her "feelings" and her criminal past. Because yes, folks, if you thought Belle's betrayal with that wire was forgotten, guess again.

EJ, our poor confused coma prince, wakes up and immediately looks like someone asked him to solve quantum physics on two hours of sleep. Susan’s cooing and Belle’s standing there, and when Susan mentions Belle’s name, EJ just gives her the blankest stare this side of Salem. Belle does what Belle does best — runs off to get help — while Susan keeps badgering him to remember who put a bullet in his chest. Because that's not traumatizing at all.

When EJ finally croaks out something? He points at Belle and basically says, "I remember what you did." Susan goes nuclear like it’s the Fourth of July, and Belle looks like she wants the earth to swallow her whole. Obviously, EJ was talking about the wire betrayal, not getting shot. Still shady, Belle. Still shady.

And because Susan can’t mind her business to save her life, she starts warning everyone about danger. Bless her heart — and by bless, I mean hand her a muzzle.

Susan’s Salem-Sized Witch Hunt

Speaking of Susan, she didn’t waste a minute bringing her chaos energy to the town square, where Gabi was trying to mind her own shady business. Gabi’s ignoring calls from JJ, as one does when they’re busy being messy, and chatting it up with Cat. You’d think this was a casual lunch date. Wrong.

Gabi tries digging into Cat’s possible chemistry with Chad — because nosy girls stick together — and then Susan comes barreling in like a woman on a mission. Susan accuses Gabi of being a no-good villain and practically accuses her of pulling the trigger on EJ, because she "felt it in her bones." Honestly, Salem should hire Susan as their full-time psychic investigator at this point.

Gabi tries to play it off, but the girl practically breaks into a cold sweat when Susan talks about seeing her at the house that night. Sure, Gabi denies it with the energy of someone absolutely guilty, but we all saw that flashback, Gabi. We know. And poor Cat just stands there looking like she accidentally walked into a reality show taping.

Johnny's Emotional Whiplash

Meanwhile, Johnny is trying to have feelings, and it’s almost adorable. He visits Chad to thank him for nudging him toward EJ’s bedside. It’s all very touching — until Johnny admits he’s still not sure if he can actually forgive EJ. Honestly, fair.

Just when Johnny starts to feel a little better about life, Chad gets a call from Belle about EJ waking up. Poor Johnny's PTSD flashbacks about guns say, "Maybe not today," so Chad heads solo to the hospital. Good move, honestly.

When Chad shows up, he interrupts Belle, who looks like she’s two seconds away from throwing herself on the hospital floor and confessing every sin she’s ever committed. EJ thanks Chad for saving his life — which, honestly, Chad should put on a T-shirt at this point — but the big mystery remains: who pulled the trigger?

Chanel’s Adoption Win

Across town, Chanel and Paulina are busy living their best lives, trying to pretend EJ’s coma drama isn't their problem. Amy drops by with some casual life-changing news: she’s ready to move forward with the adoption. Even better? She’s cool with Chanel and Johnny raising the baby despite them not being the poster children for religious devotion. At least Chanel was honest about that little detail.

Amy’s feeling good about her decision, and Chanel's practically vibrating with excitement. She calls Johnny to share the news, but wait — curveball! He texts her first that EJ woke up. Chanel’s like, "Yeah, great, but we’re still moving forward," and Amy believes her. You’ve got to admire the commitment to ignoring Salem drama.

Later, everyone gathers to sign the adoption papers, Belle included, looking like she needs a drink the size of Lake Michigan. Papers get signed, hearts get warmed, and Johnny gets home to the big news that he’s officially going to be a daddy — if he just signs one last paper. You’d think he’d be thrilled. Instead, Johnny hugs Chanel with all the enthusiasm of someone realizing their credit card just got declined.

Final DOOL Recap Moments

In the final moments of today's Days of Our Lives full episode recap, Chad catches Cat at the hospital grabbing coffee — because nothing says "I just accused someone of attempted murder" like a casual latte. They chat, and Cat, ever the awkward queen, asks about EJ’s recovery. Good news: he’s awake. Bad news: no clue yet who shot him.

Meanwhile, Susan’s back at EJ’s bedside, serving up coffee and unsolicited crime-solving. EJ’s brain is still a little fried, but Susan is absolutely convinced she knows who tried to take her boy out. She’s feeling it deep in her witchy little soul.

Back in the town square, Gabi’s haunted by memories of creeping around the DiMera house the night EJ got shot. She’s shaking her head like a toddler caught with chocolate all over her face, insisting that Susan couldn’t possibly know what she did. But let’s be real, Gabi — in Salem, secrets have the shelf life of milk left out in the sun.
