The Young and the Restless Recap | Claire Moves In & Tessa Goes Full Blonde - Tuesday, April 22, 2025 [SPOILERS]

On Tuesday's The Young and the Restless, Claire drops a love bomb on Kyle, Phyllis gets a harsh reality check from both Billy and Daniel, and Daniel turns to Tessa (who is now a blonde!) for the support he actually needs.

Claire Moves In & Kyle Gets a Lesson in Newman Realities

At Society, Claire showed up to give Kyle news she clearly thought would make his heart skip a beat. And it did—just not for the reasons she assumed. Our girl Claire decided it was high time they move in together. Bold? Yes. Premature? Also yes. Kyle, flustered like a boy caught passing notes in homeroom, managed to mumble a yes, though he looked like someone just handed him a live grenade.

Of course, Claire had to reassure him that she wasn’t doing this to prove anything to her granddaddy Victor. Girl, please. You name-dropped the mustache within three minutes of the conversation. Kyle had the nerve to suggest maybe, just maybe, this wasn't about love and more about Claire trying to one-up the Newman expectations. Claire wasn’t having it. She whipped out the L-word like it was a shiny new toy, and Kyle melted faster than ice cream in August.

But Kyle wasn’t totally buying the "I'm totally independent of my family’s drama" act. He warned her: Victor Newman doesn’t roll over because somebody bats their eyes and says "please." Claire, bless her naive little heart, swore she’d win him over. Kyle humored her because apparently, nothing says true love like delusion. They sealed the whole messy situation with some kisses and dreamy talk about house-hunting. Because nothing cures the looming threat of family warfare like Zillow and brunch plans.

Phyllis Goes Full Drama Queen on Billy & Sally

Meanwhile, over at the Club, Phyllis was doing what Phyllis does best: making everything about Phyllis. She showed up to throw a whole guilt parade for Billy because Daniel wasn't jumping onboard the Abbott Communications ship fast enough for her liking.

Billy, who somehow manages to stay a decent human being despite the swirling vortex of drama around him, tried to explain that maybe — just maybe — Daniel needed to grieve his dead partner first. Phyllis was not trying to hear all that mature, logical nonsense. She needed Daniel locked and loaded for business now.

Sally, sitting off to the side, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else (can you blame her?), caught a whole lot of side-eye from Phyllis. Phyllis accused her of whispering bad things about her into Billy’s ear. Because, naturally, if someone doesn’t instantly agree with Phyllis Summers, it must be because of a conspiracy.

Sally & Billy | Y&R

Billy, a true saint for not flipping the table, warned Phyllis that bossing everyone around wasn’t the vibe. When it came time for her to answer the million-dollar question—whether she was officially in or out of the company—Phyllis puffed up and declared herself IN. Full throttle. 5000% committed. (Because saying 100% just isn’t dramatic enough, darling.)

Billy took the win but wasn't fooled for a second. He knew Phyllis was a ticking time bomb with a Ph.D. in passive-aggressiveness. Sally, in her infinite wisdom, advised Billy to RUN, not walk, away from this inevitable mess. But Billy, sweet summer child that he is, decided to keep faith.

Bless his heart.

Daniel Finds Salvation in Bunny Cookies & Tessa

Over at Crimson Lights, Daniel was spiraling like a bad soap opera within a soap opera (sound familiar Days fans?). Enter Tessa, professional good listener and bringer of bunny-shaped cookies. Honestly, MVP of the episode. And now with more blonde!

Daniel unloaded all his feels — the grief, the confusion, the pressure from his mom. Turns out, trying to bounce back after losing Heather wasn’t exactly a "dust yourself off and keep moving" situation. Shocker.

Tessa, proving she's basically Genoa City's Oprah, gave him the hard truth: he didn’t have to have it all figured out right now. Oh, and also, stop eating your emotions. (Unless it’s bunny cookies, those are sacred.)

Daniel admitted that he bailed on the Abbott Communications job because he wasn’t ready. He felt bad because Phyllis was counting on him — but newsflash, Daniel, your mom can hustle on her own. Tessa advised him to shake things up creatively, even if that meant doing something totally unexpected. She literally pulled a harmonica out of her purse to prove the point. If that’s not commitment to the metaphor, I don’t know what is.

Feeling slightly less like a sad potato, Daniel asked for Tessa’s help with some yet-to-be-revealed project. Just when you thought this episode couldn’t squeeze in more emotions, Phyllis came barging in, desperate for her son’s attention. Daniel, firmly channeling his inner boundaries, told her to chill and let him figure this mess out solo.

Phyllis tried to hide her devastation behind her big fake smile and left. Tessa, soft-hearted as ever, felt for her. But she made it clear: Daniel needs space, not a mom with a five-point business plan for his emotions.

And with that, Daniel, a bunny cookie in his hand and a harmonica tune in his future, started figuring out what life might look like without everyone else's expectations.
